WORKSHOP ON LEARNING DISABILITIES AT BISHOP COTTON GIRLS’ SCHOOL
As educators, have you ever paused to ponder whether the child who is unable to read, write or spell properly, is perhaps suffering from a genuine medical problem/ learning discrepancy? Being an educational institution catering to educating children with Learning Disabilities/emotional concerns since 16 years, we would like to inform you about our recent, pro-active movement. Larkspur Educational Trust is aiding and equipping top-notch schools and educators of Bangalore in knowing more about what Learning Disabilities are, and how to help and empower the lives of such special but very intelligent children.
We have been organising and conducting interactive, experiential hands-on activity-based workshops for the teachers at various schools. The activities demonstrate significant concepts of Special Education and enable the teachers to step into the shoes of a Learning Disabled child for a few hours. We have successfully conducted workshops at Bishop Cotton Girls' School, Sofia Public School, Banjara Academy, School of Journalism and B.E.T Group of Educational Institutions and the response of the teachers after being sensitised through our workshop was positively uplifting. Some teachers with teary eyes recalled with regret how they had scolded the slow learners, not understanding their problems.
Sensitisation of teachers is highly essential and our workshop is driven towards this purpose, and to inspire lives through the medium of Special Education.
